The Federal Student Aid School Closure portal has been updated with information to help impacted Argosy and Art Institute students.
The Argosy and Art Institute pages have been updated on StudentAid.gov/closures.
UPDATED INFORMATION:
- The ED has posted its webinar schedule. You are encouraged to attend.
- Student and Visitor Exchange Program:
- Argosy students who are in "Active" status may seek the following:
- Seek a change of status,
- Enroll in another qualified program of study at an SEVP certified school, or
- Depart the United States.
- Nonimmigrant students who have questions about their options should call the SEVP Response Center at 703-603-3400. Program Completion

Please see the spreadsheet below entitled Argosy Closure Teach Out Institution List by Program for details (this document will be updated as more information from institutions become available). Please contact the institution directly.

If you are transferring to another institution and need additional assistance, please complete and email the Argosy Students Information Request Form to GNPEC at [email protected].
If you have unearned tuition for a course or courses that have not been delivered due to this closure (meaning you have paid out-of-pocket for courses that you did not complete due to the closure), you may be eligible for additional assistance. Please complete and email the Argosy Students Information Request Form to GNPEC at [email protected].
FEDERAL STUDENT LOANS AND PELL GRANTS:
If you have general questions about federal loans you should first try to contact your loan servicer. Additional information on loan forgiveness and refund discharge is available at: https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation
Please be advised that if you completed or are in the process of completing a comparable program of study at another school through an Argosy University teach-out, by transferring academic credits or hours earned from Argosy University, or by any other comparable means, you are NOT eligible for a closed school discharge. However, if you transfer credits from Argosy University to a completely different program of study at a new school, it does not disqualify you for discharge.
Additionally, according to the ED, “Even if the schools do not officially close, ED has begun the process to identify Argosy and Art Institute students that were disbursed a federal direct student loan for the current term and is in the process of canceling them. The cancellation of the disbursement for the current term for all students that are transferring to complete their educational program at another institution will be done automatically with adjustments made to your loan balance to reflect it. For current Federal Pell Grant recipients transferring to a school and starting classes before July 1, 2019, the financial aid office at your new school will be able to determine your remaining 2018-19 Pell Grant eligibility. ED will be notifying schools about Pell Grant processing for students affected by this situation.”
If you still have questions about your Federal Student Loans or Pell Grants, GNPEC suggests you contact the Federal Student Aid Ombudsman Group of the U.S. Department of Education.
VETERANS:
Please visit https://www.benefits.va.gov/GIBILL/FGIB/Restoration.asp to learn more about your options. Some benefit eligibility may be restored depending on the details of the closing and your circumstances. If you received VA benefits, you will need to contact the VA regarding the possibility of having benefits reinstated.
If you have private loans, you need to contact your loan servicers to determine their processes, if any, for requesting a loan adjustment or discharge.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please complete and email the Argosy Students Information Request Form to GNPEC at [email protected].
