We authorize and regulate the operations of in-state nonpublic and out-of-state postsecondary institutions operation or offering instruction in Georgia. 

School Spotlight

GNPEC is interested in learning about and showcasing our institutions’ accomplishments at quarterly Commission meetings. If your organization, students, or graduates have received accolades or other recognitions, please share them with GNPEC. We would love to hear about the impactful ways our institutions are serving Georgia! 

Types of Institutions that Require Authorization

GNPEC authorizes large and small, degree-granting and certificate-granting, and accredited and unaccredited institutions. GNPEC might need to authorize your institution if the following apply:

U.S. Department of Education Guidance for interruptions of study related to COVID-19

The U.S. Department of Education released guidance for institutions to address compliance with Title IV Higher Education Act (HEA) policies for students receiving federal financial aid whose activities have been affected by COVID-19. Institutions will want to review this guidance for all activities that are subject to Title IV policies and regulations. The Department is providing some short-term flexibility for schools to help students complete the term for which the students are currently enrolled.
